4. Connector (D'Anthony R.)

Chapter 1-6: Chapter 1 through 6 talks about racism; which we have all learned through our parents being African Americans. Also it talks about wetting the cardboard and having frequent accidents peeing, which we all have done when we were little. It talks about how each adult or person over 16 needs a passbook to prove their residency and that’s sort of like having to keep up with your social security card, and birth certificate, driver’s license, etc. These are the connections I made with chapters 1-6.

Chapter 7-14: So in these chapters I only had a connection with one thing and that was the part in the story about Christianity. I am Christian and I attend Hillside Chapel on Cascade. I’ve been a Christian since I was a little boy. I never really knew about any other religion besides Christianity, so that’s why my family has never had any religious issues because most of my family is Christians. This is the connection I made with these chapters.

Part One: I had made many connections in part one of Kaffir Boy. The connections were stuff that I have gone through in my life so far. Some of them were religious issues,  keeping up with government papers, having enough food in the house, etc. So there are issues in this book that kids go through today.

Chapters 41-47: The connection I made is when reading about the little school children and adults went out to protest against the white people to not learn Afrikaners. This moment reminded me of the Civil Rights movement and all the riots they had and how they were also fighting for something in Alabama too. So racism and apartheid is not just in Africa it is all over the world.

Chapter 47-51:The connection I made is when reading about the little school children and adults went out to protest against the white people to not learn Afrikaners. This moment reminded me of the Civil Rights movement and all the riots they had and how they were also fighting for something in Alabama too. So racism and apartheid is not just in Africa it is all over the world.
